Geographic Factors

High-speed North/South road links serve passenger and freights needs well. (A1 and A19 linking the North to the South, A69 to the West connecting to the M6 and the North West)

North East England is connected to the world’s oceans by 5 deep-sea ports, including Teesport, UK’s largest chemical and Europe’s second largest petrochemicals port.

Two international airports (Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Durham Tees Valley) offer more than 60 scheduled routes to Europe, a direct route to Dubai and many connections to hub airport leading to anywhere on the globe.

The Tyne has a significant engineering workforce available, within the last three years over 2,000 people were still engaged in shipbuilding projects and the River is now benefiting from a number of additional projects from the Oil & Gas and renewable energy sectors
