Floating Wind on the River Tyne
River Tyne working in partnership!
Working collaboratively, Shepherd Offshore, Smulders Projects UK and Port of Tyne are working towards the future of Floating Wind, with the government net zero strategy. Using this joined up approach for energy security, this will also help support responsible regeneration on the River Tyne for local stakeholders. This combined partnership also demonstrates the strong links and shared ambitions of the Tyne’s stakeholders. The scheme is administered by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and supports the delivery of port infrastructure to facilitate floating offshore wind.
With support from UK Government this will help enable a seamless process from the delivery and storage of components, manufacture, and final deployment.
Charles Shepherd, Managing Director said: “Shepherd Offshore are fully committed to this critical milestone in the growing strength and evolution of the River Tyne, with it also being vital to the progression of skills and employment figures within the region. The attached CGI shows the scale of the Tyne’s ambition of creating connectivity of assets and capability”.
Shepherd Offshore would also like to give a special thanks to The Works and Fairhurst for the creation of this detailed CGI model which you can view here
